Arte Povera, one of the most influential art movements of the 20th century, emerged in Italy during the late 1960s, redefining the boundaries between art and life. Rooted in the use of simple, everyday materials—like stone, wood, and metal—this revolutionary movement challenged consumer culture and invited a return to the elemental forces of nature. Focusing on elemental materials and embracing natural cycles, Arte Povera continues to challenge and inspire, inviting us to reconnect with the fundamental forces of life and to rethink art’s role in society.
By stripping art to its essential forms, Arte Povera artists provoke us to reconsider our relationship with the physical world and confront the raw, poetic energy that lies within. Through pivotal moments, the movement has proven its timeless relevance, engaging new audiences and artists in a conversation that is as vital today as it was over half a century ago.
The opening of Arte Povera #3 marks the third Arte Povera exhibition at Mulier Mulier, following previous editions in 1994 and 2016.
