Mulier Mulier Gallery is pleased to invite you to the opening of the exhibition Conceptual Art on Thursday, September 10, from 17.00 at Mulier Mulier Gallery Brussels.
The exhibition brings together works by six key figures of Conceptual Art: Art & Language, Robert Barry, Stanley Brouwn, Dan Graham, Joseph Kosuth, and Lawrence Weiner.
Emerging in the late 1960s and developing throughout the 1970s, Conceptual Art marked a significant shift in artistic practice. Across Europe and the United States, a generation of artists began to reconsider the nature of the artwork, challenging established ideas around authorship, materiality, perception and the role of the artist. Ideas, language, processes and systems became central to a diverse range of practices that redefined the relationship between the artwork, the artist and the viewer.
Bringing together these distinct yet interconnected approaches, the exhibition revisits a formative period in contemporary art and the ideas that continue to inform artistic practice today.
